Doornkraal Spensplaas

Spensplaas is an organic food growing project for the people of De Rust which started up during the lockdown in April 2020 and its located right here on Doornkraal, about 5 km from De Rust. Friends of Spensplaas comes in many forms and is either through volunteering in exchange for fresh garden produce, or becoming a CSA (community supported Agriculture) member. A CSA member contributes a fixed monthly amount and are welcome to pick veggies as they please. The contributions of these members help us to pay the Head Gardener and cover other expenses to keep the garden going.

How you can help

You can volunteer for a few hours and take away the fruits of your labour in exchange! But if you are visiting De Rust and have not brought your dungarees, garden and sun hat, you can book a guided visit to Spensplaas. Experiencing the joys of Spensplaas and meander through the rows of veggies and herbs and learn more about growing your own and how to use it.
