Doornkraal’s Losbandige Lam is a reflection of the land we call home nestled in the heart of the Klein Karoo, just outside the charming village of De Rust. Here, amidst rugged mountains and vast open plains, our sheep roam freely, grazing on a rich variety of indigenous flora unique to this region. The Klein Karoo’s hardy vegetation and pristine environment naturally shape the flavor of our lamb, producing meat that is tender, beautifully balanced, and free from routine antibiotics or hormones. It’s honest, pasture-raised lamb, nurtured by the land and crafted by nature.

Sheepskins

We offer two types of sheep skins. One done the natural way:  untreated and untanned, where no chemicals used. And the other,  according to industry standards, commercially tanned and treated.

Our natural way skins carefully trimmed by hand to neaten the edges while preserving its natural shape. This labor-intensive process ensures a unique, authentic product. Genuine sheep wool offers exceptional comfort. Cool in summer, warm in winter, and naturally rich in lanolin. To clean your sheepskin, vacuum, steam clean, or gently hand wash in lukewarm water. Avoid harsh detergents and brush regularly to maintain its soft, fluffy texture.
